1 kg ground meat ( beef or turkey)

1 egg

1 shallot, minced

1 tsp ground ginger

2 garlic cloves, minced 

2 spring onions finely chopped

1/2 cup panko (or breadcrumbs) 

2-3 tsp sesame oil


1/2 cup hoisin sauce

3 tbsp rice vinegar

3 tbsp soy sauce 

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tbsp honey

2 garlic cloves. minced 

1 tsp ground ginger 


  • preheat oven to 400"F (200'C)
  • combine well all the meatballs ingredients and with your hands shape into balls 
  • place on the greased baking sheet and bake for about 20 min and until the meatballs are golden
  • while the meatballs are in the oven whisk together all the ingredients for the sauce 
  • once the meatballs are done, dip each meatball with the toothpick in the sauce ( or pour the sauce over the meatballs directly) sprinkle with sesame seeds, spring onions and cilantro 
  • serve warm
